Riderskills™ Terms and Conditions

Many thanks for choosing Riderskills™ as your training provider. This document sets out the understanding between you (the Customer) and Riderskills Motorcycle Training™ when you commit to book a professional training course or test with us. Please read carefully, if you have any questions give us a call on 09 555 7374 prior to making your booking.

Reservations & Payment

Payment is due before commencement of your training course. Payment made online using visa or mastercard is processed over a secure connection on secure servers. The technology employed to keep your payment card details safe is Secure Socket Layers (SSL). Payment card transactions are completed through the Buypoint merchant facility and we do not store or have access to your card details. SSL is the recognised worldwide standard for secure e-commerce transactions.

We are also happy to accept Riderskills™ gift vouchers as part or full payment for your training. All fees must be paid at least 48 hours prior to commencement of your training.

Cancellations & Refunds

General

At Riderskills™ we recognise that circumstances occasionally arise that require you to change your arrangements. If you can give us at least 48 hours notice prior to commencement of your course we are happy to refund in full any fees paid to us in advance of your course. Payments made with a payment card may only be refunded to the original payment card used to secure the booking.

When insufficient notice is given or the Customer fails to attend the course (for any reason), it has a direct impact on the income of the instructor who has dedicated their time to put you through professional training, undermines the sustainability of the service we offer and denies the opportunity for another Customer to upskill. If you are not committed to attend please consider this and do not make the booking.

If you cannot provide us with 48 hours notice the full amount of your course and booking fees are liable to forfeit.

Your course may not commence and the fees will be forfeited in full by the Customer under the following circumstances:

  1. Failure by the Customer to attend the course promptly at the appointed start time for any reason (excluding prior notice in accordance with the above cancellation policy)
  2. Failure by the Customer to present the necessary documentation at the time of the course (licence, photo id, rego, wof, L-plate).
  3. Failure by the Customer to ensure that their clothing and protective gear is appropriate to the training environment, weather conditions and objectives of the training course
  4. For on-road courses - failure by the Customer to ensure that their vehicle is fully road legal, up to warrant of fitness standard and appropriate for their current licence class
  5. During your course, if you decide not to continue with your training or complete the course duration, then no refund of the fees is given.

Ride Forever courses

A booking fee is required for each Ride Forever course ($20 or $50, this may be subject to current promotions). This fee is an administrative charge and does not cover the full cost of training. Ride forever courses are subsidised by ACC based on your attendance with the full retail value reflecting the true cost of delivery to the provider.

Your instructor is a professional who will have dedicated their valuable time to help you improve your skills and will be personally out of pocket if you fail to attend your course. Please think about this if you are considering cancelling your course at short notice.

Non-compliance with the above cancellation policy will result in a loss of the booking fee and may lead to a refusal to accept another booking. .

Note: Riderskills™ are not responsible for your non-attendance on the course, regardless of the reason. This includes (but is not limited to) illness, transportation problems, work commitments, family crisis or inadequate planning.

Whether you have pre-paid for your course or we have given you the option to pay by cash on the day, we will enforce our cancellation policy to cover our costs.

Adverse Weather

Training takes place rain or shine. Lessons may be rescheduled when severe conditions warrant. Riderskills™ will inform the Customer prior to course commencement if we consider the conditions to be unsafe.

Trainee Conduct

You are responsible for always acting in accordance with the directions and advice given to you by your instructor during your training sessions. You are also responsible for making sure that you are adequately dressed and protected for motorcycle riding. You are obliged to inform us of any physical condition or otherwise that could adversely affect safety or training. We expect you to be open to learning and feedback and treat our instructors / examiners with courtesy.

Dangerous riding and inappropriate speeding will not be tolerated. You will accept full responsibility for your actions. You must operate your motorcycle according to current legislation when riding on public roads.

The Instructor retains the right to withdraw the Customer from the intended course or practical test if the Instructor believes that the required standards of safety, courtesy or control will not or have not been achieved. Where applicable an alternative course may be substituted to enable the Customer to acquire the necessary level of competence. This is entirely at the discretion of the instructor.
The Instructor has the right to halt or suspend training of a Customer if he/she believes the Customer is incapacitated in any way through drink or drugs, or fails to comply with instructions or safety standards.

Property and Equipment

On selected Courses, Riderskills™ will supply the training motorcycle. In the event that a Customer chooses to use their own machine for training purposes, it must be in roadworthy condition and comply with all current regulations and legislation, and if necessary display the current regulation L-plate. Riderskills™ reserves the right to refuse to train a Customer on their own machine if they deem the machine to be unsuitable for training purposes.

Riderskills™ accepts no responsibility for any loss or damage, for any reason, to any Customers personal property. Any damage caused to a Customers own motorcycle whilst being used for training purposes is the responsibility of the Customer.

All equipment loaned free of charge or hired to the Customer must be treated with care and respect. If damage or loss is caused by wilful neglect or misuse then a charge of not more than the loss incurred by Riderskills™ will be made to the Customer.

Safety and responsibilities

Statistics show that motorcycle riding, by its very nature, involves a higher degree of personal risk and injury, than is associated with driving a car. In booking a course or a lesson, the Customer must accept these attendant risks and hazards.

Although every effort is made to ensure your safety during your course / lesson, you must realistically accept that there is a small possibility that an accident may occur that causes injury to you. Unless shown to be deliberately negligent, your instructor and / or Riderskills™ is NOT liable for any expenses, loss, damage or injury incurred by you as a result of any accident that may occur.

When you book with Riderskills™, you are deemed to accept the above terms and conditions.
